PC Program Setup
The Modes top tab reveals four sub
tabs, the first of which is Mode Se-
lection. Here you can see how the
HTR-2400 breaks modes into two
groups, 2-Channel Modes and Cin-
ema Modes (5.1 encoded). If this
software is running on an active
HTR-2400, only one side of the
mode chart will be accessible while
the other side is grayed out indicat-
ing that these modes are not avail-
able. This auto-detect feature is also
mirrored on the HTR-2400’s front
panel as only available modes will
appear on the display. The 5.1 By-
pass option is for the DVD Audio (or
SACD) multi-channel bypass input.
The Enhancements sub tab lets
you adjust the attenuation level and
delay level of two proprietary ADA
modes, Stereo Enhance and Mono
Enhance (simulated surround
sound from a stereo or mono sig-
nal). These features can only be ad-
justed by using this software. Also,
you can alter the Dynamic Range
which is typically set to Max but for
night viewing might be set to Min.
The Pro Logic II (Music & Custom)
sub tab permits you to customize
both the two Pro Logic II Music
modes and six Pro Logic II Custom
Modes. Where the Music mode only
permits adjustment of Center
Width, Panorama, and Dimension
Control, the Custom modes permit
alteration of all Pro Logic II features.
This is a powerful tool that makes it
possible to really create great sur-
round sound fields for Pro Logic II.
The DTS Extras sub tab allows you
to automatically lower the LFE (1-
10 dB) whenever a DTS signal is
detected. This will permit you to
maintain equal bass levels when
switching between Dolby & DTS
software.
