TROUBLESHOOTING
Cleaning the System
WARNING
Before cleaning or disassembling the MA90 series, check the underside of the
mattress folds for sharp objects such as scissors, needles, etc. These objects should
be removed and discarded before proceeding with further cleaning or disassembly;
otherwise injury or damage to the product may occur.
Because of potential risk of infectious exposure, cleaning with the patient on the bed
is not recommended.
All equipment should be inspected. Any item that is visibly soiled with the patient's
blood or other body fluids should be properly cleaned or removed.
Laundry workers should treat all soiled bedding as if it were contaminated with
pathogenic microorganisms.
1. Removethebedding.
2. Ifnecessary,inflatethemattress.
3. Ensurethatthecontrolunitisoff.
4. Unplugthepowercordfromthewalloutlet.
5. Ensurethattheundersideofthemattressisclearofallsharpobjects.
6. Examinethesurfaceofthecontrolunitandmattressassemblycomponentsforvisible
bloodorbodyfluids.
7. Performoneofthefollowing:
•Ifbloodispresent,decontaminatetheproduct.
i. Removeallvisiblesoilwithdisposablepapertowels.
ii. Scrubtheareawithfreshlypreparedeffectivephenolicdetergentdisinfectant
solution.
•Ifbloodisnotpresent,removeanysoilfromthecoverwithpapertowels.
NOTE:Ifsoiled,thecovershouldbe
removed,cleanedanddecontaminated.
8. Performthefollowingstepstocleanthemattresscover:
A. Usingacleanspongeorpapertowel,wipedownthecoversurfacewithadilute
detergentsolutionofquaternarycleanerdisinfectantorothergermicidaldetergent
solution.
