Requirements and Recommendations
Wyse WaveLAN requires a Winterm™ 3 series Thin Client with one available PCMCIA
slot.
Wyse Viewers
Wyse Viewers as a kit are sold separately and include:
• “Excel Viewer 1.0” on page 41
• “Portable Document Format (PDF) Viewer 1.0” on page 42
• “PowerPoint Viewer 1.0” on page 42
• “Word Viewer 1.0” on page 43
You can optimize memory for the Wyse Viewers by setting the following registry:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Hardware\WYSE]
“ShowMemoryTab”=dword:1
To optimize memory, go to Control Panel/System/Memory and move the slider so
that the memory allocation for storage has enough room for the largest file you plan on
using.
Note
Moving the slider to the right increases allocated memory for storage and
moving the slider to the left side increases allocated memory for execution. It
is recommended that you do not move the slider too far to the right, as
sessions will have difficulty running due to the lack of execution memory.
Excel Viewer 1.0
Wyse Excel Viewer allows a user to view Excel files (using Internet Explorer) that conform
to Microsoft® Excel specifications (Excel .xls document formats for Microsoft® Office 97,
2000, and XP).
Notable Features
Wyse Excel Viewer includes the following notable features:
• Launch Wyse Excel Viewer directly through Internet Explorer - Users can launch the
Wyse Excel Viewer from an Internet Explorer page that has a reference to an Excel
document (user clicks the Excel link and selects Open from the current location). The
Viewer maintains the integrity and content of the original file without additional
software, file conversion, ActiveSync filters, or desktop connection required.
• Toggle between windows - Users can toggle between an Excel Viewer window and
other open windows on the desktop.
• Robust navigation ability - Users can navigate within the Excel document using mouse,
keyboard, and page navigation.
• Robust viewing ability - Users can change the zoom level (magnification) for the
document (25%, 50%, 100%, Page Width, or Full Page) for better viewing experience.
