Notable Features
Wyse ThinPrint ICA Virtual Channel 5.5 includes the following notable features:
Driver support to enable ThinPrint printing.
User interface to enable or disable the ThinPrint driver.
Easy to use interfaces - User interfaces provide everything necessary for configuring
printers and ports.
Improved performance - The ThinPrint client receives print data from the server,
decompresses it, and sends it to the print device.
ThinPrint AutoConnect - Automatically creates client printer objects on the Terminal
Server when the session is opened.
Virtual Channel - Allows administrators to use devices outside firewalls without the
need to open ports in those firewalls.
Requirements and Recommendations
Wyse ThinPrint ICA Virtual Channel 5.5 requirements and recommendations include the
following:
When printing through a USB port, the Wyse JETCET Add-on (version 3.01) build 18
or later must be installed.
ThinPrint .print Server Engine software (build 5.5 or later) must be installed on the
server.
A valid ICA connection must be established when printing with ICA Virtual Channel 5.5.
Important Feature Information
This section provides important information on the following features:
Printing over ICA/RDP - Both the Citrix protocol ICA and the Microsoft protocol RDP
enable print jobs to be sent to a session user through the virtual channels of Terminal
Server communication (ICA or RDP). This .print print mode is also possible to clients in
masked networks.
ThinPrint AutoConnect - ThinPrint AutoConnect is the .print tool for
automatically-created printers. The tool automatically creates client printer objects on
the Terminal Server when the session is opened.
ThinPrint TCP/IP 5.5
Wyse ThinPrint TCP/IP 5.5 allows Winterm™ 3 series Thin Client users to print locally to a
printer that is attached to the thin client through the TCP/IP protocol (unless the thin client
cannot be addressed due to firewalls or Network Address Translation). It can receive print
jobs and send them directly to printers or network printers with embedded network cards.
In addition, Wyse ThinPrint TCP/IP 5.5 supports LPD printing.
