Mass Storage 3.0
Wyse Mass Storage 3.0 is a utility that supports USB Storage Devices (described as Mass
Storage Devices) for use with the Winterm™ 3 series Thin Client.
About the Add-on
Known Issues and Workarounds:
Reading data from certain CD-R discs fails and causes the thin client to hang. As a
workaround, connect empty drives before inserting the media.
Notable Features
Wyse Mass Storage support includes the following notable features:
USB device support - Supports USB devices (with supported file systems) which
conform to the USB Mass Storage Specification.
FAT and FAT32 File System support - File system support includes FAT and FAT32 file
systems (devices with an NTFS file system are not supported).
ICA server support - An attached device is presented on an ICA server as a local drive
which can be used to store documents. For example, a user can use an attached Mass
Storage Device within the ICA connection through “Client drive A:” in Windows
Explorer as a drive.
USB Floppy Drive, USB Pen Drive, USB Flash Key, USB CD-ROM, and USB Zip Drive
support - Supports writing and reading operations on USB Floppy Drive, USB Pen
Drive, USB Flash Key, and USB Zip Drive devices. Supports reading operations on
USB CD-ROM.
Access control - Ability to control access to mass storage devices is available on build
17 and later. Use the USB Access application (located in the Control Panel) to
configure the following access control options:
USB Floppy - Disabled, Read Only, Full Access
USB CD-ROM - Disabled, Read Only
USB Key (USB Zip, USB Hard drive) - Disabled, Read Only, Full Access
Requirements and Recommendations
Wyse Mass Storage requirements and recommendations include the following:
Winterm™ 3 series Thin Client with at least one available USB port.
Supported USB devices must use FAT and FAT32 file systems.
USB Mass Storage Device must be USB devices (with supported file systems) which
conform to the USB Mass Storage Specification.
If using FAT32 file systems, devices must be preformatted to FAT32.
ICA Drive Mapping must be enabled.
