Question: Why does Microsoft Windows XP (SP2) and Windows Vista show
less memory than what is physically installed?
Answer: Microsoft implemented a design change in Windows XP with Service
Pack 2 (SP2) and Windows Vista. This change is specic to the Physical Address
Extension (PAE) mode behavior which improves driver compatibility. For more in-
formation, please read the following article at Microsoft’s Knowledge Base website
at: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/888137.
Question: How do I update my BIOS?
Answer: It is recommended that you do not upgrade your BIOS if you are experi-
encing no problems with your system. Updated BIOS les are located on our web
site at http://www.supermicro.com/support/bios/. Please check our BIOS warning
message and the information on how to update your BIOS on our web site. Also,
check the current BIOS revision, and make sure that it is newer than your BIOS
before downloading. Select your motherboard model and download the BIOS le to
your computer. Unzip the BIOS les onto a bootable oppy and reboot your system.
Follow the Readme.txt to continue ashing the BIOS.
Warning: Do not shut down or reset the system while updating BIOS to
prevent possible system boot failure!
Question: What's on the CD that came with my motherboard?
Answer: The supplied compact disc has quite a few drivers and programs that will
greatly enhance your system. We recommend that you review the CD and install
the applications you need. Applications on the CD include chipset drivers for the
Windows OS, and security and audio drivers.
3-4 Returning Merchandise for Service
A receipt or copy of your invoice marked with the date of purchase is required be-
fore any warranty service will be rendered. You can obtain service by calling your
vendor for a Returned Merchandise Authorization (RMA) number. When returning
to the manufacturer, the RMA number should be prominently displayed on the
outside of the shipping carton, and mailed prepaid or hand-carried. Shipping and
handling charges will be applied for all orders that must be mailed when service
is complete.
This warranty only covers normal consumer use and does not cover damage in-
curred in shipping or from failure due to the alternation, misuse, abuse or improper
maintenance of products. For faster service, RMA authorizations may be requested
