CHAPTER 2 HARDWARE INSTAL LATION The FPC5105 provides rich I/O ports and flexible expansions for you to m eet different demand. The chapter will show you how to install the hardware. It includes: 2.1 CompactFlash™ Card Serial Port Ethernet Mounting Way Hard disk Dram Wireless LAN Card CF card Installation The FPC5105 provides one CF slot for users to install Com pactFlash ™ card.
2.2 Serial Ports Interface The FPC5105 has two onboard serial ports, COM1 (RS-232/ 422/ 485) and COM2 (RS232).
2.2.1 COM1&COM2 Connector The COM1 and COM2 is a standard DB-9 connector. This connector is equipped with +5V level power capability on DCD and +12V level on RI by setting JP10 and JP11. The pin assignment of RS-232/RS-422/RS-485 is listed on the following table. If you need COM1 port to support RS-422 or RS-485 m ode, please refer to Jum per Settings Pin RS-232 RS-422 RS-485 1 DCD TX- Data- 2 RXD TX+ Data+ 3 TXD RX+ N.C 4 DTR RX- N.C.
2.3 Ethernet The FPC5105 is equipped with two high performance Plug and Play Ethernet interfaces, full compliant with IEEE 802.3 standard, and can be connected with a RJ-45 LAN connector.
2.4 Mountings – Panel/Wall/Desktop/VESA There are several mounting ways for the FPC5105, Panel, W all, Desktop and VESA mountings. 2.4.1 Panel M ounting The FPC5105 is designed for panel m ount application. A set of standard mounting kit are bundled with the s ystem package that you can use it to m ount the FPC5105.
2.4.2 Wall-M ounting The FPC5105 is designed for W all m ounting application. Please refer to the following steps: Find out the screws as mark ed on the back side of chassis. 2.4.3 Desktop-Mounting The FPC5105 is designed for desktop m ounting application. Please refer to the following steps: Step 1 Find out the screws as marked on the back side of chassis.
Step 2 Assem ble the desktop stand to the chassis, and fix the screws.
2.4.4 VESA-ARM Mounting Step 1 Find out the screws as marked on the back side of chassis. Step 2 Assem ble the VESA-ARM to the back side of the chassis, and fix the screws.
Step 3 Caution VESA m ounting Installation completed. Use recommended/suitable mounting apparatus to avoid risk of injury.
2.5 HDD Installation The FPC5105 provides a convenient Hard Disk Drive (HDD) bracket for users to install 2.5” SATA HDD. Please follow the steps: 1. Unscrew six screws to rem ove the rear chassis. 2. Unscrew 4 screws from the HDD bracket, and take out HDD bracket.
3. Screw the 2.5” HDD, together with the HDD Mylar, to the HDD bracket. 4. Fix the HDD brack et into the system , and plug the data and power cable to HDD. Installation complete.
2.6 DRAM Installation The FPC5105 provides one 204-pin DDR3 800MHz SO-DIMM socket that support sys tem mem ory up to 2GB. Please follow steps below to install the mem ory modules: 1. Open the back cover and find m ainboard (SBC87832). 2. Push down latches on each side of the DIMM socket.
3. Install the memory module into the socket and push it firm ly down until it is fully seated. The socket latches are levered upwards and clipped on to the edges of the DIMM.
2.7 Wireless LAN Card Installation The FPC5105 provides one Mini card slot for user to install one wireless LAN card. W hen installing the wireless LAN card, refer to the following instructions and illustration: 1. Open the back cover and find m ainboard (SBC87832). 2. The socket latches are clipped on to the edges of the Mini card. Install wireless LAN card to the socket.
NOTE: Please have the extented bracket when using half-size mini card.
CHAPTER 3 AMI BIOS SETUP UTILITY This chapter provides users with detailed description how to set up basic system configuration through the AMIBIOS8 BIOS setup utility. 3.1 Starting To enter the setup scr eens, follow the steps below: Turn on the computer and press the key immediately. After you press the key, the main BIOS setup m enu displays. You can access the other setup screens from the main BIOS setup menu, such as the Chipset and Power menus.
3.2 Navigation Keys The BIOS setup/utility uses a k ey-based navigation system called hot keys. Most of the BIOS setup utility hot keys can be used at any tim e during the setup navigation process. These k eys include , , , , keys, and so on. Note: Some of navigation keys differ fr om one screen to another. Left/Right The Left and Right keys allow you to select a setup screen.
3.3 Main Menu When you first enter the Setup Utility, you will enter the Main setup screen. You can always return to the Main s etup screen by selecting the Main tab. There are two Main Setup options. They are described in this section. The Main BIOS Setup screen is shown below. System Time/Date Use this option to change the system time and date. Highlight System Time or System Date using the keys . Enter new values through the keyboard.
3.4 Advanced Menu Launch PXE OpROM Use this item to enable or disable the boot ROM function of the onboard LAN chip when the system boots up. Launch Storage OpROM Enable or disable boot option for legac y mass storage devices with Option ROM. The Advanced menu allows users to set configuration of the CPU and other s ystem devices.
ACPI Settings You can use this screen to select options for the ACPI Settings, and change the value of the selected option. A description of the selected item appears on the right side of the screen. ACPI Sleep State Use this item to select the highest ACPI sleep state the system will enter.
CPU Configuration This screen shows the CPU Configur ation, and you can change the value of the selected option. Hyper Threading Technology Use this item to enable or disable Hyper-Threading Technology, which m akes a single physical processor perform m ulti-tasking function as two logical ones.
IDE Configuration SATA Controller(s) The optional settings are: [Disabled]; [Enabled]. Configure SAT A as The optional settings are: [IDE]; [AHCI].
USB Configuration You can use this screen to select options for the USB Configuration, and change the value of the selected option. A description of the selected item appears on the right side of the screen. Legacy USB Support The optional settings are: [Auto]; [Disabled]; [Enabled].
NCT6627UD Super IO Configuration You can use this screen to select options for the Super IO Configuration, and change the value of the selected option. A description of the selected item appears on the right side of the screen Serial Port Configuration Use this item to set parameters of serial port 0~3.
PC Health Status This screen shows the Hardware Health Configuration, and a description of the selected item appears on the right side of the screen.
3.5 Chipset Menu The Chipset menu allows users to change the advanced chipset settings. You can select any of the items in the left frame of the screen to go to the s ub menus: Host Bridge Host Bridge For items marked with “”, please press for more options. South Bridge South Bridge For item s m arked with “”, please press for more options.
M emory Frequency and Timing This item is for m emory frequency and timing settings. Press to go to the sub m enu.
3.6 Boot Menu The Boot m enu allows users to change boot options of the s ystem. Boot Settings Configuration Setup Prompt Timeout Use this item to set num ber of seconds to wait for setup activation key. Bootup NumLock State Use this item to select the power-on state for the NumLock.. The optional settings are: [On]; [Off]. GateA20 Active If Upon Request is selected, GA20 can be disabled using BIOS services.
3.7 Security Menu The Security m enu allows users to change the security settings for the s ystem. Administrator Password This item indicates whether an adm inistrator password has been set. If the password has been installed, Installed displays. If not, Not Installed displays. User Password This item indicates whether a user password has been set. If the password has been installed, Installed displays. If not, Not Installed displays.
3.8 Exit Menu The Save & Exit menu allows users to load system configuration with optimal or failsafe default values. Save Changes and Exit When you have completed the system configuration changes, select this option to leave Setup and reboot the computer so the new system configuration parameter s can take effect. Select Save Changes and Exit from the Exit menu and press . Select Ok to save changes and exit.
Save Changes When you have com pleted the system configuration changes, select this opti on to save changes. Select Save Changes from the Save & Exit menu and press . Select yes to save changes. Discard Changes Select this option to quit Setup without making any permanent changes to the system configuration. Select Discard Changes from the Save & Exit m enu and press . Select Yes to discard changes.
CHAPTER 4 DRIVERS INST ALLATION 4.1 System FPC5105 supports W indows7 32-bit. To facilitate the installation of system driver, please carefully read the instructions in this chapter before start installing. 1. Insert Driver CD and select the “\Drivers”. 2. Select all files and follow the installing proc edure.
4.2 Touch Screen The FPC5105 uses the 5-wire analog resistve. 3. Click Start m enu and select “PenMount Utilities”; and then, a “PenMount Control Panel” pops out. 4. Select the “Standard Calibrate” tab.
5. Calibration: To adjust the display with touch panel, click “Calibration” and follow the calibrate point to do calibration; there are five points on screen for calibration. 6. Press OK.
