In some applications that require a pressure vacuum breaker, spillage from the PVB would be
objectionable. The Wilkins 460 spill resistant vacuum breaker was created to prevent such
spillage. Designed to prevent contamination of the potable supply due to backsiphonage, the
460’s unique operation causes the air inlet to close before water passes the check valve. This
operation makes the 460 resistant to leakage from the air vent during start-up. All internal com-
ponents are in modular form, making the 460 an easily repaired assembly.

Local codes shall govern installation requirements. Unless otherwise specified, the assembly shall be installed in accordance with the manufacturers’ in-
structions and the latest version of the Uniform Plumbing Code. The critical level mark on the assembly shall be mounted at a minimum of 12” (305mm)
above the highest downstream piping or outlet. Install with sufficient side clearance for testing and maintenance. The installation shall insure that no part
of the assembly can be submerged. A spill-resistant pressure vacuum breaker cannot be installed where back-pressure could occur.
