When space is tight, and a traditional horizontal valve just will not fit, the Wilkins 450DA is the space saver
that is needed. The 450DA is an “N” pattern double check detector assembly designed to prevent back-
pressure or backsiphonage of water from the fire system into the public potable supply. While protecting
against a non-health hazard backflow condition, the 450DA provides low head loss and excellent backflow
protection through the use of the center stem guided Compound Check
®
. As is true with all of Wilkins large
diameter backflow assemblies, the 450DA is available with grooved or flanged end connections via gate or
butterfly shut-off valves.

Local codes shall govern installation requirements. To be
installed in accordance with the manufacturers’ instructions
and the latest edition of the Uniform Plumbing Code. Unless
otherwise specified, the assembly shall be mounted at a mini-
mum of 12” (305mm) and a maximum of 30” (762mm) above
adequate drains with sufficient side clearance for testing and
maintenance. The installation shall be made so that no part of
the unit can be submerged.
