There are many instances where a double check valve assembly must be retrofitted into a system, but
there is inadequate room to install a traditional in-line, horizontal valve. The Wilkins 450 was designed
with this problem in mind. The 450, with its “N” pattern design, offers a compact double check that
lends itself well to cramped, retrofit locations. Constructed with light weight, ductile iron bodies, the 450
also utilizes the patented Compound Checks
®
, resulting in a light weight valve with extremely low head
loss. Providing protection where a health hazard does not exist, the Wilkins 450 is the “space saver” you
need on your retrofit job! Works well when an enclosure is specified, as the smaller footprint allows for a
smaller enclosure, reducing total installed costs. Check out the valve setter as well.

Local codes shall govern installation requirements. To be installed in accor-
dance with the manufacturer’s instructions and the latest edition of the Uniform
Plumbing Code. Unless otherwise specified, the assembly shall be mounted at
a minimum of 12” (305mm) and a maximum of 30” (762mm) above adequate
drains with sufficient side clearance for testing and maintenance. The installation
shall be made so that no part of the unit can be submerged.
