Appendix F Serial Over LAN
Hardware Setup
There are two ways to attach the host system’s serial port to the ARMC card’s serial port.
• Internally using a 9-pin ribbon cable
• Externally using a null modem cable
Internal
One way is to use a 9-pin flat ribbon cable as illustrated below (if the system board has an
available internal 9-pin serial port connector):
9-pin flat
ribbon cable
Plug one end of the 9-pin flat ribbon
cable into the Acer ARMC’s serial port
connector located at JP1
Plug in the other end
of the 9-pin flat ribbon
cable into the host
system’s internal serial
port connector
