Frequently asked questions
The fo llowin g is a list o f po ssible s i tu ation s th at may arise du ring t h e use o f
yo ur co mp uter. Easy solution s are p r o v id ed fo r each on e.
I turned on the po wer , but th e comput er does not start or
bo ot up.
L o ok a t the power indicator:
• If it is not lit, no po wer is be ing s upp lied to t h e co mp uter. Ch eck the
follo wing:
• If yo u are u s ing on th e battery, it may be low an d un able t o po wer the
co mp uter. Co nn ect the AC ada p te r to recharge the battery pack.
• Make sure that the AC adap t e r is pro p erly plug ged into the c o m puter
and to the power ou tlet.
• If it is lit, chec k t h e follo wing :
• Is a no n- boo table ( non -sy stem) disk in th e ex tern al US B flo pp y d r i v e?
Remove or replace it with a s y stem disk and press <Ctrl> + <A lt> +
<Del > to restart t h e sy stem.
Noth ing appears on th e screen.
The c o m puter's po wer manage men t sy stem au toma t i c a lly b l ank s th e screen to
sav e power. Press any ke y to t u rn the display back on.
If pressing a key do es not tu rn the d i splay bac k on , th ree thin gs m i ght b e
the cau s e:
• The b r igh t n e ss leve l mig h t be t oo lo w. Press <F n> + < > (increase) t o
adju
st t h e brig htness level.
• The display de v i ce might be set to an external m on i t or. Press t h e disp lay
togg le hotkey <Fn> + <F 5 > to toggle the display b ack to t h e co mp uter.
• If the Sleep in dic a tor is lit, the co mp uter is in Sleep mo de. Press and release
the power button to resume .

(spe aker) ico n on the t askba r. If it is crossed-ou t , c lick on the ic on a nd
deselec t the Mu te all op ti on .
• The vo lume level may be to o lo w. In W i ndo ws, loo k at the volu me c ontrol
icon on the taskbar. You can also us e the v o lume contro l butt ons to adjust
the volume.
