User Guide

Every time you open a file in the Browser or the Viewer, information about that file
is added to the ACDSee database. Database information, such as stored thumbnail
information, increases the viewing speed of ACDSee. You can use database infor-
mation to search your hard disk drive and organize your files.
Chapter 6 Managing your files introduced file properties. This chapter takes a more
in-depth look at adding and editing items. ACDSee provides tools to catalog files in
the database without having to browse the files first, and tools to maintain the
database for better performance.
Adding items to the database
ACDSee includes a database that contains the following information for each multi-
media file on your hard disk drive:
• Cached thumbnails
• Category
• Notes
• Keywords
• Author comments
• Dates
