Metadata is information about a photo such as the date it was taken, the camera »
settings used, keywords, or captions. Ratings and categories are also metadata. All of
this information can be stored in the photo itself, and in the ACDSee 12 database.
Embedding the metadata into the image les ensures that all of this useful information »
remains with the photos when moving them from one computer to another.
Some le formats (such as RAW, PSD and ABR) do not support embedded XMP but »
instead have linked XMP les to hold their database information. By default, these
linked sidecar les are hidden.
Once the les are copied onto the other computer, you need to ensure they are »
cataloged in the new database.
