Key concepts

When you move photos from one computer to another, it’s a good idea to ensure all of the information about the

photos moves too. This information is called metadata and includes useful data like camera settings, keywords, captions,

ratings, and categories. Keeping the metadata with the photos lets you search photos consistently across computers.

Camera settings,

attributes and other

types of metadata (e.g.

keywords, captions) can

be stored in the photo

itself, and in the database.

Note: When moving data from one computer to another it is always best practice to backup the

data before proceeding.

To embed the database information into all of your files, click Tools | Embed Database Information | In All Files.

Embedding database information Copying the files Cataloging the files Fom the Copy To Folder dialog, select the drive where you would like to place your images. Plug in your removable hardrive or other storage device into the other computer and copy your files over.
