Electrical,opticalandmechanicaltestsonHL25EXaccumulatorlightsofWitteundSutorhavebeen
performedinJune2011atFraunhoferIZM.Severalcompletelampsincludingchargerswere
investigated.Additionallithiumsecondarybatterieswhichareusedinthelampsweretested
separately.Thetestswerecarriedoutata
56‐channelbatterytesterMaccorseries4000andan
opticaltestbedwithLuxmeterLX‐1108.Thelampisdesignedforuseinexplosionprotectedareas.
AssessmentsaccordingtoECdirective94/9EGATEXwereperformedbyTÜV‐Awhichissueda
certificateonOctober8
th
2010ontheAccuLuxHL25EX.
Thefollowingresultshavebeenobtained:
1.Thelampsarefullyfunctional.Alltechnicalspecificationsandsub‐functionshavebeenfulfilled.
2.Thelightingfluxwasobtainedbasedontheangleofradiationandmeasuringtheilluminanceat
differentdistances.Theresultingfluxvaluewas
190Lumen.Undercontinuousoperationofthe
mainlampthelightfluxdoesnotdropmorethan10%forthetotalusetime.Basedonthemost
advancedpowerLEDtechnologythelampsfeatureanoutstandingbrightness.
3.Secondarybatteries:Highqualitylithiumionbatteriesareusedwhich areencapsulated
together
withthefuseandthesafetycircuit.Duringfullcharge‐dischargecyclesthecapacitydropsonly
0.052%percycle.After500cycles70%ofthenominalcapacityremains.Lowweightandlowself
dischargeratesarefurtheradvantagesofthelithiumbatteries.
4.Charging:Aconstantcurrent
constantvoltagechargingregimeisusedtoachievelongbatterylife‐
time.Thechargingtimeiswithinspecifications.Chargingcanbecarriedoutat230VoltsACaswell
as12and24VoltsDC.Iftheinputvoltagefallsbelowthe12or24Voltthresholdvalues,the
chargingstops.
5.Discharging:Fuelgaugingisperformedathighaccuracy.TheLCDcapacityindicatorfeaturesfour
segmentswhichindicate5%,35%and70%ofdischargetime.Theautomaticswitchingtopilot‐
