7.4 Turning the meter on

 Keeping the devices in this position, turn the meter on

using the Test Button.

The meter beeps. When the voice unit and meter are in contact

with one another, the voice unit announces “Meter detected”.

If no contact has been established, the voice unit waits

a while and then announces the fact (for further infor-

mation, see Chapter 14).

Shortly after the “Meter detected” announcement the test strip is

automatically advanced and the meter beeps a second time. The meter is now ready to test blood glucose.

 The voice unit instructs you to apply blood to the test strip.

 You have about 5 minutes in which to apply blood to the test strip. After approximately 60 seconds, in the event that the

test has not been performed by then, the voice unit announces that it is waiting for a result.

If you wish to use the earpiece while testing blood glucose, insert the plug BEFORE contact is established with the

meter and do not unplug it again until AFTER the result has been announced.
