7.2 Turning the voice unit on
Turn the voice unit on by pressing the On/Off button and holding it down for at least 2
seconds.
Then follow the instructions issued by the voice unit.
The voice unit instructs you to line up the two infrared windows and then to turn the meter
on.
i
If you cannot hear the voice unit’s announcement, turn the speaker volume up or
use an earpiece.
7.3 Lining up the infrared windows
Lay the voice unit and meter down so they form an “L”
shape (see illustration).
When the meter and voice unit are in this position their two infra-
red windows are lined up, allowing the two devices to communi-
cate with one another.
Communication between the voice unit and meter may
be impaired or prevented altogether by extraneous
infrared signals (e.g. from a mobile phone, an insulin
pump or a laptop computer), or by exposure to direct sunlight. Make sure during communication that all unwanted
infrared sources are turned off and that no exposure to direct sunlight is possible.
