For sighted persons: Using the meter and cleaning the devices

In rare cases bruising may occur as a result of alternate site testing.
If the result obtained from alternate site testing does not agree with the way you feel, test again with blood collected
from a fingertip. If this test result still does not agree with the way you feel, please contact your doctor.
Do not change your treatment based on just one result.
Only use the Accu-Chek Softclix Plus AST Accessory with your Accu-Chek Softclix Plus lancing device. Using a differ-
ent lancing device or a different AST cap with your Accu-Chek Softclix Plus lancing device may prevent the lancing
device and/or the cap from functioning correctly or may result in permanent damage to the lancing device and/or the
AST cap.

Success in obtaining a sufficiently large drop of blood from sites other than the fingertip may vary from person to
person and from one alternate site to another.
23.1 Choosing the right moment
Before you perform a test with blood from an alternate site (palm below the thumb, forearm, upper arm or calf), you should be
aware of the following limitations.
Capillary blood from the fingertip responds more quickly to changes in blood glucose levels than blood from alternate sites.
Blood glucose values obtained from blood taken from these sites may therefore differ from values obtained from blood taken
from the fingertip. This is because the fingertips have more blood vessels than other sites.
