 Use a lightly moistened cotton swab to wipe the small window covering the optical system and the area around it.
Make sure that no liquid enters the meter. Avoid scratching the measuring window, as doing so could impair its
measuring function.
 Remove any fluff or lint that may remain.
 Close the drum compartment cover and push it shut. You will hear an audible CLICK.
 Perform a quality control check (see Chapter 20).

Ensure that the drum compartment cover is tightly closed. If it is not properly closed, the meter will not turn on when
you press the Test button.
22.2 Cleaning the lancing device
Clean your lancing device regularly to keep it in good working condition. If any blood gets on it, always wipe this away imme-
diately. Clean the outside of the lancing device only. Wipe it once a week with a cloth lightly moistened with 70% ethanol or
70% isopropanol (available from your pharmacist).
