and means:


The bar code on the test strip drum is damaged. To troubleshoot, see error message E-2.
 The small window covering the optical system is dirty.
 Clean the window (see Chapter 22) and repeat the test with a new test strip.
 You applied blood or control solution too soon.
 Press the Test button to turn the meter off and then on again. Repeat the test with a new
test strip. Wait until the test strip symbol and blood drop symbol flash in the display and
the meter beeps (provided the beep tone is turned on). Now (and no earlier than this) apply
blood or control solution to the test strip.
 You applied too little blood or control solution.
 Turn the meter off and on again. Repeat the test with a new test strip and a larger amount
of blood or control solution.
 You moved or bent the test strip while applying blood or control solution, or during meas-
urement.
 Turn the meter off and on again. Repeat the test with a new test strip.

