Message text Cause Remedy
While the voice unit and meter are in
contact with one another
Saved error message (Menu 5.1)
Meter error E 5:
Blood was applied too
soon, or test strip is defec-
tive, or measuring window
of meter is dirty.
Either you applied blood
too soon to the test strip, or
the test strip is defective.
Turn the meter off and then on again
by pressing the test button. Repeat
the test with a new test strip. Wait un-
til you hear the “Apply blood” prompt.
Now (and no earlier than this) apply
blood to the test strip.

Also, the measuring
window of the meter may
be dirty.
Press the Test button to turn the me-
ter off. Have the measuring window
cleaned as described in the User’s
Manual for the meter.
If you have not yet eliminated the
error:
Press the Test button to turn the me-
ter off. Have the measuring window
cleaned as described in the User’s
Manual for the meter.
Meter error E 7:
Meter error.
There is/was a meter error. An error has occurred in the meter.
Turn the meter off and then on again
by pressing the test button.

empty.
An error has occurred in
the meter.
Or the batteries in the
meter are empty.
Turn the meter off and then on again
by pressing the test button.
If the error message is repeated:
Insert new batteries in the meter. If
the error message is again repeated
when the meter turns on, contact
your local customer support and
service centre.
