Acano Solution R1.6: Support FAQs 76-1022-08-K
Page 27
Does Acano support Skype integration?
The Acano Solution R1.6 supports audio, IM and presence between Skype users and the Acano
system. This allows:
Skype users to join coSpaces
Skype users to make point-to-point calls to non-Skype users (Acano/SIP/WebRTC...) using
the Acano solution as a gateway
Non-Skype users to make point-to-point calls to Skype users (using the Acano solution as a
gateway)
Skype users to add coSpaces or non-Skype users to their Contact list and see presence
Acano users to dial out to Skype users to invite them into a coSpace
Chat between a coSpace and a Skype user
This feature requires configuration of Skype to Lync integration so that the call will come through
your Lync Edge server. To configure Skype integration, you must provision details of the Acano
server (or the Acano Edge server in split deployment) and your domains on Microsoft's systems.
For more details see:

To add an Acano address as Skype contact, in the Skype client enter the URI (e.g.
mycospace@example.com) in the Search box, then click Search Skype. The contact will show
as a Lync user after it has found (this might take a while) and then you can call it from your
Skype client.
We plan to support video but we require Microsoft to add this to their Lync-Skype integration
first.
Currently you cannot invite a Lync user to a Skype group calla limitation of using Microsoft's
Lync-Skype integration.
What is the minimum bit rate for audio and video?
For any type of connection (e.g. Acano client, SIP, Lync, WebRTC) even though in theory a
128kbps connections should allow both audio & video, we recommend at least 256kbps for an
acceptable user experience.
Is TIP supported in R1.6 and on what systems?
TIP is supported from R1.6, allowing you to make calls, to and accept calls from, both single-
and triple-screen TIP devices. These calls support both presentation and encryption, and in the
case of triple-screen systems, new layouts are used that span all three screens.
Enable TIP support in the Web Admin Interface: go to Configuration > Call Settings and set
TIP (Telepresence Interoperability Protocol) Calls to Enabled. Then set both SIP Bandwidth
Settings to at least 4000000.
Currently only Cisco CTS and TX systems running TIPv8 are supported. Equipment from other
vendors has not been tested. If your CTS or TX system is using an earlier version of TIP then it
will need to be upgraded.
