CHAPTER 5. MANAGING FILES AND SETS 66
The Library Location
Chooser.
If any of these previous Library locations are now unavailable (perhaps because of an
unattached external drive, a moved or renamed folder, or an angry roommate) these will
appear greyed-out in the list. If you know that these unavailable locations are gone for
good, you can remove them by using the Clear Unavailable Locations option at the bottom
of the chooser:
Unavailable Library
Locations can be
Cleared from the List.
You can also use the Browse button next to this chooser to create a new Library by pointing
to an empty folder or creating a new one. But keep in mind that a new Library created in
this way won't actually contain any usable content until you install Live's default packages.
Once you've selected a Library path, one of two possibilities will occur, depending on the
new location:
If the target location is an empty folder, Live will mark this location as a valid Library
by stocking it with a few special folders and conguration les. As mentioned above,
you'll then need to add useful content to this location manually.
If the target location is a Library that was made with an older version of Live, you will
be warned about possible compatibility issues. It is generally not a good idea to try
to share a single Library between two different versions of Live.
