CHECKINGTHEFLOWSENSOR
Ifthetanklessunitisproperlyconnectedtowater,gas,andpowersuppliesbutthefanmotordoesnot
initiatewhenwaterisrunthroughit,theflowsensorismostlikelynotworkingproperlyandnottelling
thePCBoardtoinitiate.
1) TOOLS
‐Gatherthefollowingmaterialstogether:
a. Degreaserinapumpactionbottle
b. #2PhilipsScrewDriver
c. Flashlight
d. OldTowels,atleastthree
2) PREPARETHEUNIT
‐Draintheunitbyfollowingtheprocedures
onp.22.
3) FRONTCOVER
‐Removethefrontcoveroftheunit.Itisheldon
bythreescrewsonthetopcornersandbottomcenter.
4) DISCONNECTFROMWATERWAY
a. Theflowsensorislocatedbelowthewatercontrolvalve,on
thefrontleg.
b. Removethewaterwayclipsbelowandabovetheflowsensor
bypushingonthetabstopopthemoff,oneoneachsideof
theflowsensor.
5) CHECKINGTHEFLOWSENSOR
a. Checkforfunctionality.Flowrateisdeterminedbyanimpellerthatspinsasfluidrunsthrough
it.
b. Blowintotheinletoftheflowsensor.Listenforthespinningimpeller;itshouldspinfreelyfora
fewseconds.Ifitcomestorestabruptlyordoesn’tspinatall,itneedstobecleanedor
replaced.
c. Placetheflowsensorintoacon taineroflemonjuiceoranotherdegreaserfor30minutesand
checkthespinningcapabilityagain.
d. Testthecleanedflowsensorby“jumpingthesystem:
i. Reattachtheflowsensorwires.
ii. Turnpowerbackontotheunit.(GASSHOULDSTILLBEOFF)
iii. Blowintotheflowsensor;ifthefaninitiates,theflowsensorsuccessfullyread
theairflowandshouldnowworkproperly.
6)
REASSEMBLE‐Reassembletheunitinreverseorder.EnsurethattheOringsandwaterwayclipsare
allinplace.
