2 PRECAUTIONS INSTALLATION GUIDE READ ALL PRECAUTIONS AND INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY. Before installing: When installing: • Do not install this filtration system where the line pressure may exceed 100 psi. The operating pressure range for this filtration system is between 25 psi – 100 psi. • Properly tighten all fittings to ensure a leak-free assembly. • Install on cold water lines only (40° – 100°F). • Allow a minimum of 2-1/2" clear space below unit to facilitate filter change.
3 1 3 Turn off main water supply. Drain water from water lines. 2 Remove clear housing from filter head and set aside. Wrap Teflon® tape (2-1⁄2 wraps) to the right around the 1" male x 1" street adaptor. Screw firmly to filter head. (See Figure 1) FIGURE 1 Do not use pipe solvent (dope), as solvents in some types of pipe dope may cause damage to plastic fittings. Do not over-tighten to prevent damage to filter head.
INSTALLATION GUIDE 5 When installing on metallic plumbing, ensure you take the following precautions: Securely install two (2) grounding clamps and a #4 copper wire across the location where the system will be installed. Tightly clamp at both ends, as shown below. (See Figure 3) COPPER WIRE ELECTRICAL SHOCK HAZARD Prior to installation on metallic plumbing, securely install two grounding clamps and a #4 copper wire as per installation instructions.
5 INSTALLATION GUIDE 8 9 Place a filter (purchased separately) into clear housing. Ensure filter is centered and seated. Screw housing with filter into head. Hand tighten until snug. If necessary, tighten with supplied filter wrench to seal properly. DO NOT OVER-TIGHTEN. Slowly turn on main water supply while depressing red air release button (on filter head). Check for leaks. Allow water to run for five (5) minutes to flush out air.
66 CARE AND MAINTENANCE INSTALLATION GUIDE TROUBLESHOOTING AO-WH-PREL Water leaks at fittings: Slowly tighten until leak stops. The following range of A. O. Smith filters can be used with this housing Water leaks persist: Turn off water at the main water supply shut-off valve. Remove threaded fittings. Reapply Teflon® tape to the right and screw fittings back onto head assembly.
7 LIMITED 1 YEAR WARRANTY What is covered: This Warranty covers defects in materials or workmanship in manufacturing of your A. O. Smith Whole House Sediment Filter, except as provided below. For how long: This warranty runs for 12 months from the date of purchase by a consumer (“Warranty Period”).

10 2 PRECAUCIONES GUÍA DE INSTALACIÓN LEA DETENIDAMENTE TODAS LAS PRECAUCIONES Y LAS INSTRUCCIONES DE INSTALACIÓN. Antes de la instalación: • No instale este sistema de filtración donde la presión de la tubería pueda superar los 689 kPa (100 psi). El rango de presión de funcionamiento para este sistema de filtración es entre 172 kPa y 689 kPa (25 psi y 100 psi). • Instale solo en tuberías de agua fría (4.4 a 37.8 °C [40 a 100 °F]). • No instale la unidad de costado.
11 Durante la instalación: • Apriete correctamente todos los conectores para garantizar un montaje sin fugas. • Asegúrese de soldar cualquier conector lejos de la carcasa del filtro. • Deje un espacio libre de 6.4 cm (2-1/2") bajo la unidad para facilitar el cambio de filtro. • La tubería y el filtro deben estar afirmados firmemente con sujetadores de tuberías. • Si se instala en tuberías metálicas, dos abrazaderas de conexión a tierra y alambre de cobre n.° 4 son esenciales para la seguridad.
12 GUÍA DE INSTALACIÓN 1 3 Cierre el suministro principal de agua. Drene el agua de las tuberías de agua. 2 Retire la carcasa transparente el cabezal del filtro y déjela a un lado. Coloque cinta Teflon® (2-1⁄2 vueltas) hacia la derecha alrededor del adaptador 1" macho x 1" macho-hembra. Atornille firmemente al cabezal del filtro.
13 GUÍA DE INSTALACIÓN 5 Cuando instale en tuberías metálicas, asegúrese de tomar las siguientes precauciones: Instale firmemente dos (2) abrazaderas de conexión a tierra y un alambre de cobre n.° 4 a través del lugar donde se instalará el sistema. Apriete la abrazadera en ambos extremos, como se muestra a continuación.
14 GUÍA DE INSTALACIÓN 7 Coloque el cabezal del filtro y las válvulas de cierre de entrada en la tubería. Asegúrese de que el puerto “IN” (Entrada) con el botón de liberación de aire rojo esté conectado a la línea de suministro de agua entrante. Apriete las tuercas de compresión de las cuatro (4) ubicaciones a ambos lados de cada válvula.
15 GUÍA DE INSTALACIÓN INSTALACIÓN Y CAMBIO DE LA BATERÍA DEL TEMPORIZADOR Inserte un cuño o destornillador en la ranura entre la tapa del temporizador y la base. Abra cuidadosamente y separe la tapa del temporizador de la base. Instale o cambie dos (2) baterías nuevas AAA de 1.5 voltios. Alinee la base y la tapa y vuelva a juntarlas. Se recomienda cambiar las baterías al menos cada dos (2) cambios de filtro. No mezcle baterías viejas y nuevas.

The recommended filter replacement frequency in the AO-WH-PREL System is every 3 or 6 months depending on filter type, or sooner if noticeable pressure drop occurs.
