Product
Installations shall be in strict accordance with manufacturer’s written instructions, as shown on approved shop
drawings. The device shall also be classified by Underwriter’s Laboratory Inc. as a through-penetration firestop
device when tested in accordance with ASTM E 814 (UL 1479) for up to 3 hour rating.
All penetrations must be firestopped with a UL Classified system or device as listed in current UL Fire
Resistance Directory or have approved shop drawing prior to installation. Suitability for the intended service
application should be determined prior to installation.

5. Installation Techniques
•
Prepare the opening by cutting correct size hole
•
Slide the device either over existing
penetrants or into the opening
•
Remove the foam visual/smoke seals and place in a safe location
•
Secure with optional 3M

Fire Barrier Pass-Through Mounting
Brackets, 3M
™
Fire Barrier Pass-Through Stud Brackets and/or
3M
™
Fire Barrier Sealant to the assembly
•
Install penetrants
•
Re-install the foam visual/smoke seals flush with device ends
6. Re-installing Penetrations
•
Remove the foam visual/smoke seals and place in a safe location
•
Install new penetration
•
Re-install the foam visual/smoke seals flush with device ends
7.
Maintenance
The 3M Fire Barrier Pass-Through Device requires no
maintenance over a normal life cycle.

determining whether the 3M product is fit for a particular purpose and suitable for user's application. If this 3M product is defective within the warranty period stated above, your exclusive
remedy and 3M's sole obligation shall be, at 3M's option, to replace or repair the 3M product or refund the purchase price of the 3M product.
